Klancher, Frank, Sr. (2 April 1875 - 13 January 1964)

 

Frank Klancher, Sr., 88, of Greenwood, a pioneer settler in the Willard area, died Monday at 4:30 a.m., at the home of the Aged in Greenwood.  He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital New Year’s Day with pneumonia and returned Saturday to Greenwood.

 

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 9 a.m. from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood, and at 10 a.m. from the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. Burial will be made in Holy Family Cemetery. The Rev. Father Nikolay will officiate.

 

Mr. Klancher was born April 2, 1875, in Yugoslavia.  He married Frances Tomsic in 1902 in Ely, Minn.  He came to the United States in 1901, settling in Minnesota.  In 1910 he and his wife settled on a farm near Willard.  In 1951, he retired and lived in Willard until November 1, when he was admitted to the Home of the Aged in Greenwood.

 

He was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Slovenian National Benefit Society Lodge.

 

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Steve (Mary) Kufien of Milwaukee, Mrs. Alice Prebil of Boyceville, and Mrs. Frances Deutsch of Chicago; five sons, Frank of Greenwood, Tony and Adolph of Milwaukee, Paul of Willard, and Albert of Chicago.  Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1944.
