Northern Jackson County (16 January 1964)

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Claassen and two sons have returned to Black River Falls from a 10-day trip through Ohio, Washington D. C. and Virginia.  While in Washington, D. C., they visited the grave of the late President John F. Kennedy.

Mrs. Hugh Bruley of rural Black River Falls has returned home following a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Harold Williams, in Rochester, N. Y., and in Rochester, Minn., where she visited her son, Edwin Bruley.

Capt. And Mrs. Delano Rand and three children of Savannah, Ga., spent the holiday season at the George Hestekind home in Black River Falls and with his grandfather, Charles Finch.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sprick and two children of Black River Falls were recent guests of her mother, Mrs. Edwin LaMont, in Rochester, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Millis of Black River Falls spent part of the holidays in Delmar, N. Y., with their daughter, Mrs. Frank Gumbold. They flew back.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mills have returned to Black River Falls from a visit with their son, Dave, and his family in Norfolk, Va.

A1/c George Breheim returned November 14, from Anchorage, Alaska, and has been visiting his parents in Merrillan.  He was able to be present for the 25^th wedding anniversary of his parents.  George will be stationed for the final 1½ years of duty at Goodfellow AFB, near San Angelo, Tex.  He is connected with the security service of the air force.

First place in the Christmas lighting and decorating contest in Merrillan was won by Mr. and Mrs. John Anger.

The Rev. and Mrs. Burton Artz and their five children returned last week to Merrillan from Pontiac, Flint and Midland, Mich., where they visited relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Haag of Melrose observed their golden wedding anniversary last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chandler, Jr., and family of Minneapolis spent several days recently with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chandler, Sr., in Alma Center.

Ronald Laufenberg and Robert Feyen of Alma Center have returned to Tetchy, Ill., where both are students at St. Mary’s Seminary.

Howard Pierce has sold his barber shop in Black River Falls to James Feldmaier.  Mr. Pierce has barbered in Black River Falls for many years.

Relatives and friends recently surprised Mr. and Mrs. Foster Cooper of Hixton on their 56^th wedding anniversary.

Walter Waller of Merrillan is a hospital patient in Wisconsin Rapids, where he is receiving medical care for injuries received in a power saw accident while he was working on the railroad.  He was visited last week by Mrs. Waller, Mrs. Robert Roningen, Mrs. Amanda Waller and Mrs. Olga Aleckson.

Richard Erickson of rural Alma Center has been making frequent trips to Neillsville to visit his wife, who is a surgical patient in Memorial Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Pete Peterson, former Taylor residents, have informed friends they have rented their Minneapolis home and are now residing in Hinkley, Minn.

Recent guests at the Elmer Solberg home in Taylor were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Solberg and children of North St. Paul, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Cooper of Seattle, Wash.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Illiff of Atlanta, Ga., were recent visitors at the John Anger home in Merrillan.
