Eugene R. Bomback, 90, Aurora, Ill., passed away on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at the Batavia Rehabilitation Care Center, Batavia, Ill. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. Rev. Mike Herdt officiated. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pall bearers were Gregory Noack, Jeffrey Noack, Eric Noack, Daniel Villarreal, Edward Stephens, Kent Ladenberger and Andrew Ladenberger.
Eugene Renaldo Bomback was born on April 22, 1921, in Willard, the son of Matthew and Mary (nee Pavic) Bomback. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Rocky Run School. As a young man, he served with the CCCs and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943, serving aboard the USS Graffias until the end of the World War ll. He married Eva D. Orsburn on Nov. 9, 1946, at Grace Methodist Church, Greenwood. He was a member of the IBEW working as a heavy equipment operator in power line construction in Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois. He and his family settled in Aurora, Ill., in 1956, where he retired from the construction industry in 1981. He loved the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Playing cards, and listening to country music. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He would go out of his way to help anyone.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria (Gene) Noack, Sun Prairie, and Diane (Don) Ladenberger, Geneva, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Laurie (Daniel) Villarreal, Gregory Noack, Jeffrey (Megan) Noack, Eric ()Tamera) Noack, Erin(Dave) Anderson, Amy (Ed) Stephens, Kent (Jennifer Westlund) Ladenberger, Andrew (Judith) Ladenberger and April Ladenberger; 12 great-grandchildren, JMIE, Kelly, Aubrey, Keaton, Declan, Caden, Ainsley, Jack, Kate, Elizabeth, Rylan and Emberlin; two sisters-in-law, Irene Bombach, Willard, and Joyce Bombach, Willard; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva, on Sept. 15, 2006; four brothers, Matthew, Rudy, Edward and Elmer Bombach; and three sisters, Ange Gould, Viola Sodija and Vera Roberts.
