A ew loads of hay were stolen in last week between showers.

Saturday was a real good summer day, three showers and sunshine between.  The last shower was a real good one, sprinkled the hall quite lively, but they were of not too big a size.

Pratt Dawes has commenced to dig the foundation for his house and also to lay the wall.  It is going to be 24 x 28 if we are not misinformed.

The ballgame played last Sunday was between Granton and Chili, not Nasonville, as it was expected.  It was a real good game.  The Granton boys put up a very plucky defense.  They scored in the first inning, but got only two more in the balance of the game.  Chili finished up with 11 to their credit.  A large crowd was in attendance and enjoyed the game very much.  Peter Hotchkiss and Fred Dankemyer were umpires in the beginning, but Pete was discharged after the 3^rd or 4^th inning.  The Granton boys thought that they were entitled to an umpire.  Pete became real angry and is going to sue the captains for $15,000.  E. Yankee was put in Pete’s place.  A.W. Wendorf is Pete’s counselor at law and will proceed in the near future to put the case through.

Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Reichert enjoyed the company of their sister and brtoehr-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Cornjack and children.

Our blacksmith Wm. Grantworth met with a bad accident that might have turned out a good deal worse.  He turned out a pulley on his lathe, by accident it slipped and flew in his face, cutting up his nose quite badly, so Dr. Housely had to sew up the torn parts.  If nothing happens, Bill will be at his work again in a few days.

The paint crew of the Omaha railroad were here Monday painting up the signs and other things.  They came into an altercation and divided up.  They seemed to have a good notion to paint the town red, but left finally on the 4:40 p.m.
