Gergen, Elwood (Retraction - 19 JUL 1913)
It has been reported that I circulated a story on the Fourth of July of this year, defaming the character of Miss Lillie Garbush and John Gluch. I take this occasion to deny that I circulated any such story and to say that I believe the story is absolutely false in every aspect and that Miss Garbush is a young lady of highest character.
I am not personally acquainted with her but have never heard a word against her in any way.
