Goebel, Bertha #3 (29 JUL 1913)

Mr. Gustave Deutsch and Miss Bertha Goebel were united in marriage at 8 o’clock Tuesday evening, July 29th, 1913 at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Goebel, Rev. Reiff of the German Lutheran Church officiating.  Miss Clara Goebel, the bride’s sister, acted as bridesmaid and County Judge O.W. Schoengarth, a close friend, as groomsman.  The rooms were tastefully decorated with flowers and ferns when the pretty bride in a becoming dress of white silk and her sister in pink completed the charming picture.

The groom, an active and efficient young man, making good in every position that he fills now holds an excellent position in a general store at Friendship, Wis.  He formerly had charge of the Aug. Snyder branch clothing house here, and it was at this time that this courtship began, which so happily ended in his securing one of Grant’s prettiest and most accomplished girls as a life partner.

The bride has lived here since childhood and attended school here.  Socially she is a favorite with many friends.  The wedding was quiet, only relatives of the contracting parties being invited.  Among those from out of town were the groom’s sister, Mrs. Robert Chambers, and a Mr. Anton Unger of Neillsville.  They will make their future home at Friendship for which place they left on Wednesday’s noon train.  That their life may be one of real success and true happiness is the wish of all who know them, in which we must heartily join.
