Bradford, Charles (purchase of the Merchants Hotel - 16 August 1914)
Last week Chas. Bradford and son, William, bought the Merchants Hotel from F.A, Stapher, the Bradford farm east of the city being taken in on the deal. The new proprietors took possession last Saturday night. Mr. Stapher will continue to operate the hotel bar until the new proprietors can take out a new license for the place. The Bradfords are well known all over the county and their wide acquaintances should tend to help them in building up a good hotel business. Wm. Bradford has been clerking at the Merchants for several months and during that time has become well acquainted with the traveling public. Mr. and Mrs. Stapher expect to leave here and locate in Iowa in the hotel business. Wm. Mundt will have charge of the bar for the new owners of the hotel.
