Wiesjahn, Ferdinand E. (29 March 1877 - 21 March 1964)

 

Ferdinand E. Wiesjahn, 85, of Memorial Home, died Saturday in Neillsville. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lloyd Mauer officiating.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Wiesjahn was born March 29, 1877, in Marquette County. His parents were the late Ludwig and Caroline (Toon) Wiesjahn.  He received his education in Marquette County.

 

On February 14, 1901, he was married to the former Lena Meyer, who died in 1956. They farmed and operated a general store from 1912 to 1916.  He later returned to farming near Westfield.

 

The family moved to Clark County in 1920, locating on a farm in the Christie area.  In 1944, he retired and moved into Neillsville.

 

During his lifetime he served on the school board, was president of the Marquette County Fair Association and president of the Westfield Co-operative Creamery.

 

He is survived by three children: Mrs., William (Edna) Poliske of Westfield, Milford Wiesjahn of Racine, and Mrs. Leo (Pearl) Wasserburger of Neillsville; also six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren survive.

 

He was a member of the Neillsville Methodist Church.

 

Pallbearers were: Paul Jacob, Henry Harder, Alvin Wendt, A. C. Hanke and Lee Mills.

 

"Nearer My God to Thee" and "In the Garden" were sung by Wilfred Galstad accompanied by Mrs. T. N. Thompson.  

 

People from out of town attending were Mr. and Mrs. William Poliske, Mr. and Mrs. Don Malatt, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Meyer, Florence Janke, Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Long, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Whitney, all of Westfield; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Milbreit of Manawa; Mr. and Mrs. Milford Wiesjahn of Racine; Mrs.  Duane Bush and daughter of Milwaukee; Billy Wiesjahn of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Meyers of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Reuben Meyers of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. George Schaefer of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Neal Quinn and family of Madison; Harold and Barbara Jungenberg of Friendship; Mr. and Mrs. William F. Janke of Coloma; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Jungenberg of Montello; and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harder of Greenwood.
