National Guard (Retirees - 1964)
Two officers of the First Battalion of the 121st Artillery, with headquarters in Chippewa Falls, were honored Sunday in recognition of their retirement from the National Guard. They were CWO/4 Claude Ayers of Neillsville, with 39 years of association with the unit, and Capt. Dick Perry of Eau Claire, with 22 years of service. Guest speakers were Brig. Gen. Francis Schweinler of Madison; and former commander, Lt. Co. Chester Davenport of Shell Lake.
The present commander, Col. James Bliss of Eau Claire, made the presentation of awards.
Attending from Neillsville were Maj. And Mrs. Delbert C. Struble, Capt. Heron Van Gorden, Tom Flynn, CW/4 Earle Siebert, WO and Mrs. Fred Kieser, Sgt. and Mrs. Chester Diercks, and Sgt. and Mrs. Wendell Barrows.
