Salo, Kusti L. (20 MAY 1886 - 4 NOV 1961)

Kusti L. Salo was placed in his final resint place at Riverside Cemetery Tuesday.  Funeral services were conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home at 2:00 o’clock with Rev. Karl Wilkman officiating.  Serving as pallbearers were Frank Karye, Toivo Maninen, John Wagner, Milton Seaman, Neilo Kytola and Martin Harycki.  Carrying the floral offerings were Mesdames Frank Karye, Toivo Maninen, Martin Harycki and George Wnukowski.

He passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 1961 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield where he was being treated for a cerebral hemorrhage. 

Born May 20, 1886 in Finland, he had attained the age of 75 years, 5 months and 14 days.  Of this lifetime, the last 41 years had been spent in the Town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.), where he has farmed since 1920.  He came to the United States in 1906 from Finland living first in Gile, Wis.  It was after his marriage on Feb. 20, 1920, to the late Mari Salo, nee Rintala, that the couple moved to their Reseburg residence.

Mrs. Salo preceded him in death, passing away in 1958.

He is survived by two sons, Hugo of Greenwood, and Arvo of Wausau; four daughters, Mrs. George (Allna?) Makinen, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Joyce Hakaham, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Robert (Taimi) Briski, rural Greenwood, and Mrs. William (Irja) Lucas, Willard; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Raki, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Mrs. Justina Mantylsalo, still living in Finland and quite a few nephews and nieces.
