Perushek, Ludwig, Sr. (1 April 1880 - 8 April 1964)

 

Ludwig Perushek, Sr., 84, of Tioga, died April 8, in Neillsville.  He had been admitted to the hospital there April 3; his death was attributed to a cerebral thrombosis.  Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the Hill Funeral Home and from Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.  The Rev. William Nikolai officiated and burial was made in Holy Family Cemetery.

 

Ludwig Perushek, son of Baltahzar and Anne (Belay) Perushek, was born April 1, 1880, in Yugoslavia.  He came to the United States, going to Ely, Minn., in 1902.  He was married to Pauline Stupica in the summer of 1906 in Ely, Minn.  In 1919 they came to Tioga and settled on the present farm.

 

Mr. Perushek was a charter member of the Holy Family Catholic Church; for a number of years he was a member of the school board in the Town of Seif; and for 20 years he was the president of the American Slovenian Catholic Union (K. S. K. J.) Lodge.

 

His wife died in August, 1952, and a son, Joseph, in 1930.

 

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. George (Mary) Shumate and Miss Anne Perushek of Chicago, Mrs. Albert (Pauline) Volk of Madison, and Mrs. Dale (Angeline) Schultz of Neillsville; and four sons, Ludwig, Jr., of Duluth, Minn., Frank and Charles of Willard, and Anton of Neillsville. Six grandchildren also survive.

 

Pallbearers were John Pernic, Rudy Volk, Frank Morgal, John Francel and John Lesar.

 

People from away attending were: Mr. and Mrs. George Shumate and Miss Anne Perushek of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Volk of Madison; Mrs. Mary Perushek and sons, Victor and John, and Mrs. Jennie Zgonez of Ely, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Schultz and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Perushek of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Tolaney of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Laken and Mrs. Joseph Verschay and son, Richard, of Greenwood; and many friends from the Neillsville, Willard and Greenwood area.
