Hamm, Rose #2 (26 JUN 1887 - 8 NOV 1961)
A requiem mass was said Saturday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the Town of Holway for Mrs. George (Rose) Hamm. Her death occurred the previous Wednesday when she was killed outright in a car-truck crash, which occurred at the Intersection of Highway 29 and Country Trunk E at Curtiss.
Father Friez held the service with burial being made in the parish cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were George Hamm, Cadott; Archie and George Hamm, Archie Ackerman, Joe Ackerman and Matt Nowak.
Mrs. Hamm, nee Rose Hajeck, was born June 26, 1887 in Chicago. In the early 1900’s she came to the community. In 1907 she was united to the late George Hamm in a ceremony performed in Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). The couple then started farming in the Town of Holway where she has since resided.
Her husband preceded her in death, passing away in 1958.
Mourning her sad and tragic death are a son, George (Brownie) of rural Owen, and one daughter, Mrs. Art (Margaret) Ramminger, Dorchester, and seven grandchildren.
