Schellinger, Joan (19 OCT 1957)

Escorted by her father to the altar, Miss Joan Schellinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Schellinger was united in marriage to Donald Michael Stangl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stangl, Marshfield. Officiant, the Rt. Rev. Msgr A. N. Schuh, heard their vows prior to the Nuptial Mass at 9 o’clock October 19 in St John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield.

Mrs. Calvin Castner, Waukesha, the bride’s sister and Miss Shari Stangl were asked to be matron of honor and bridesmaid. They selected ruby red ballerina length gowns designed in princess style with scoop necklines and tiny cap sleeves the skirt detailed with embroidered panels. Large bows with streamers flowing to the hem were attached at the hipline. Pearl embroidered velvet petal crowns with small bouquets of ruby red and white carnations.

Richard Schellinger, Hartford, and Gary Schellinger, Loyal, brothers of the bride, served the groom as best man and groomsman. Ervin Stangl of Marshfield, an uncle of the groom, and Calvin Castner, Waukesha, did ushering.

Miss Schellinger chose her four year old sister, Susan, to be flower girl. Her dress featured a lace overskirt with a large bow accenting the back. With this she carried a miniature bouquet like the bride’s. Three year old James Stangl, the groom’s cousin, served as her escort.

Complemented by a bouquet of red roses and white carnations the bride donned a floor-length wedding gown of clipped lace over satin with sequined embroidered skirt rising to the bodice styled with a scoop neckline with tulle inlays. A silk illusion veil embroidered with sequins was attached to a sparkling Queen’s crown.

Dinner was served to the bridal party and immediate families at the Schellinger home with reception and supper at Our Lady of Peace dining hall for guests from Hartford, Loyal, Wausau, Phillips and Neillsville.

The new Mrs. Stangl is a graduate of Loyal High School and employed as secretary by Rollo-home Corp. Her husband graduated from Marshfield High School and is employed with his father in the Stangl Asphalt Co. They will reside at 900A S. Peach Ave., Marshfield.
