East Lynn (4 August 1911)
The Reinhold, Charles and Will Guk families went to Grand Rapids Tuesday t o attend the wedding of Mr. Charles Bealer, second son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Bealer of Fremont. The bride to be is unknown to us, but we’ll wager he has chosen a help mate that will be a fitted companion through life’s journey. It is rumored that a younger brother will soon follow in his footsteps.
Aug. Pusheck and family drove out to L. E. Moh’s Sunday and attended the christening of their baby in the Mapleworks Church that afternoon.
The birthday party at Herman Jensen’s Saturday evening was a failure on account of the rain, but took place the following evening and was enjoyed by young and old.
Everything goes but the cook stove. Church services on one side of the road and while the organ pealed forth a familiar air it kept in harmony with the sickle of a grain harvester on the other side and while sheaf after sheaf of the golden grain was bound it was music long to be remembered. But beware, six days shall thou work, but the seventh thou must keep holy both yourself and your hire.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Lindow and children called on Philip Breseman Sunday.
Louis Sternitzky says it is none of your business when I am going to get married, but still he is passing around a few cigars while his face wears a three cornered smile and it is quite safe to look over the instruments that are used on such an occasion.
Oscar Franke and family spent Sunday afternoon at R. Guk’s.
Even exchange is no robbery sometimes, but not always, at least that is what C. Stevenson of Chili thought last Friday evening when A. Prust who has been pasturing his cow in the former’s pasture exchanged his own cow by mistake for another and drove her home, but holy St. Patrick when the calves got out it started a race riot that nearly ended in blood shed.
James Sternitzky, better known to the public as uncle Jim of Lynn came out here last Friday and repaired the church organ.
Henry Jensen took a load of sheep to Chili Monday morning.
