Cerven, Alice K. (7 MAY 1915 - 4 JAN 2012)

Alice K. Cerven, 96, of Withee, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. 

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. 

Alice was born May 7, 1915, in rural Thorp to Walter and Frances (Filipiak) Knapik. She attended school in rural Thorp until eighth grade, moving with her parents to Chicago in 1930 working as a housekeeper for various families.

Alice was united in marriage on July 29, 1933, to James C. Cerven in Chicago, Ill. In 1949 the couple moved from Chicago to rural Withee, where they purchased a dairy farm and she continued to reside on the farm until Sept. 23, 2011. 

Alice is lovingly survived by her children, James Cerven of Addison, Ill., Alice (Silver) Harycki of Thorp and Gerald (Marge) Cerven of Stillwater, Minn., 17 grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren. 

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James C. Cerven on Sept 10, 1993; and two sons, Edward and Ronald.
