A great deal has been said about the full blooded cow being far more profitable than the grade, but who has been the judge, no one but lovers of full blooded stock.  It must be admitted that one of these priceless critters in a show ring with a calf by her side is a grand sight to behold, but a close observer may notice that the owner carries a good sized nursing bottle filled with milk from a grade cow to support the little calf.  Its mother is of the showy type and is not required to give enough milk for her offspring.  A few days ago our attention was called by a cheese maker to a line of figures on a monthly milk sheet.  The figures indicated the net proceeds of a herd of full blooded cows of the spotted variety.  If those figures could have been translated into words they would have spelled ruin.  The grade cow has proved herself a money maker, while her sister is nothing more or less than an ornament.

The following day after the holdup at the Chili bank, when nearly all had abandoned the search for the bandit, two of the most bold and fearless citizens formed in battle array, armed themselves with raisors and other weapons of modern construction, accompanied by a faithful hound, the greatest man traitor the world has even known.  But shrews as they may be their great experience in woodcraft, together with their knowledge of criminals, their habits, haunts and hiding places, the gentleman with the green backs not only evaded their pursuit, but left somewhat poorer financially, but by far a wiser community in his wake.

Jim Quicker lost a valuable horse last week.

Fred Zuehlke left Monday for North Dakota to take in the season’s threshing.

Charley Guk has passed a the examination as detective and will soon take the trail of the man that robbed the Chili bank.  His thoughts now more than ever wander back to the good old days when that great beast Corbett was constantly by his side.

Hand the Indian ball team played with East Lynn Sunday instead of Chili, the scores should have been a little more even.

A number of families attended Mission Fest at Maple Works Sunday.
