David, John David (1873 - 1948)
John David Davis was born January 30, 1873 in Eldorado, Wisconsin, the third child of David J. Davis and Ellen Morris Davis. He received his education in the rural school system and worked on farms in the area. In 1904, he married Pleysa Griffiths in Rosendale, and in 1905, he and his wife came to Clark County where they settled on a farm in the town of York; upon retirement, they moved to Neillsville in 1946. The couple raised three children: Rhoda (1906), William J. "Billy" (1909), and Morris G. (1914). John David Davis died at 9:30 p.m. June 4 (1948) in a hospital in Eau Claire after an illness of three weeks. He is buried in the Pine Valley Cemetery in Neillsville, Wisconsin with his wife and children.
