Granton Locals (14 May 1964)

 

Bob Spry, who has been in Mt. Clemens, Mich., for several days arrived home Monday night and accompanied his parents to Springfield, Minn., to attend the funeral of his grandmother.

 

The home economics department of Granton High School will present their annual style show Tuesday, May 19, in the high school.  Forty-seven girls are expected to participate.

 

Miss Peggy Schlinsog was honored at two pre-nuptial showers last week at the home of her parents. Thursday evening, Mrs. Ralph Lautenbach and Mrs. Martin Hillert, were hostesses.  Mrs. Frederick Garbisch and Mrs. Donald Bartsch were hostesses at a Saturday afternoon shower.  Miss Schlinsog plans to be married in June.

 

Mrs. Ollie Poler returned home last Thursday from Eau Claire, where she had been a hospital patient for two weeks.  Mrs. Paul Quam is helping care for Mrs. Poler at her home.

 

Mrs. Martin Reinart and two daughters of Merrillan spent Mother’s Day with her mother, Mrs. Ollie Poler.

 

The Rev. and Mrs. Robert Witte and two sons of Dodgeville visited Sunday with is parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Witte.  Mrs. E. L. Witte returned home earlier on Sunday from Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for several days.

 

Mrs. Florence Fox of Marshfield spent the weekend in Granton at the home of her late sister, Miss Ora Davis, and visited friends.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Crandall drove to King Sunday and spent the day with his mother, Mrs. Vera Crandall.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hanson and family visited Sunday in Taylor with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Hanson and Mr. and Mrs. William Berg.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William Meyer and two children of Marshfield visited Mother’s Day with his mother, Mrs. Rosetta Meyer, and his aunt, Mrs. Anita Landgraf.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herb Nielsen of Eau Claire spent the weekend with area relatives and visited her mother, Mrs. Ed Schroeder, who is in Memorial Hospital at Neillsville.

 

Mrs. Bob Spry was a Sunday guest of her mother, Mrs. Jack Pickett of Spencer.

 

Misses Pearle and Daphne Beeckler, Mrs. Ethel Berg and Miss Mabel Williams drove to Black River Falls, Sat.

 

Mrs. Adeline Norris and Mrs. Gertrude Krochak of Milwaukee spent the weekend with their mother, Mrs. Charles Guk.  On Sunday Mrs. Guk and her guests visited their daughter and sister, Mrs. Victor Schlinkert and family at Globe.

 

Sunday dinner guests at the LaVerne Vanderwyst home were Mr. and Mrs. Arne Matheson and Sherri of Neillsville.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Winn have returned to Granton after spending several weeks with their daughter, Mrs. John Mosby, and her family in Milwaukee.  Mr. and Mrs. Mosby brought them home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sternitzky and family visited Ed Kalsow in Memorial Hospital in Neillsville Sunday. Mr. Kalsow has pneumonia.

 

Several members of the Zion American Lutheran Church in Granton attended the Lutheran laymen’s league convention of Zone 11 Friday evening in St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Junction City. Dr. Walter Stuenkel, president of Concordia College in Milwaukee, spoke on "Woman Suffrage in the Church."  A banquet preceded the meeting.

 

Eight members of Zion American Lutheran Church in Granton attended the Lutheran Women’s Missionary society meeting Friday in Dancy.

 

Mrs. William Schmidtke, Mrs. Walter Trimberger, Mrs. Marcia Crothers, Pearle Beeckler and Mabel Williams were in Black River Falls recently to attend a banquet and board meeting of Federated Women’s clubs. Tuesday they attended a district meeting there.
