Jolivette, Delton E. (15 NOV 1933 - 11 JAN 2012)
Delton Elias Jolivette, 78, of
Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at
the Marshfield Care Center with his family by his
side.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday,
Jan. 14, 2012, at Zion United Methodist Church in Marshfield. The
Rev. Michael Carlson will officiate. Visitation will be held from
10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on
Saturday.
Del was born Nov. 15, 1933, to Gerald "Jeb"
Jolivette and Ella (Johnson) Jolivette at their home in Greenwood.
Delton was the only child of loving parents. He was very close to
his cousins, aunts, and uncles and family reunions were an
important part of his life.
He attended Christopherson grade school and
graduated from Greenwood High School. He was a fun, loving friend
to everyone that he knew.
In 1959, he married Joyce Diedrich who had three
children, Charlie, Cindy and Becky. Joyce and Delton were blessed
with two more children, Annie and Jamie. When they divorced, Delton
was determined to keep the family together and every weekend and
holiday he drove to different communities to unite the
children.
He attended a family wedding in 1981 where he was
reunited with the love of his life, the former Wilma Prior. He
married Wilma on March 6, 1982, and brought two more daughters into
the fold — Spring and Vicki.
Throughout his life, Delton was a hard worker. He
spent summers as a young man working in the Dakotas on farms and
grain fields. He worked at Colby Box Factory, Rollohome in Spencer,
and retired from Land O'Lakes in 1995 after many years of
service.
After he retired he loved to travel to historical
sites with his beloved, finished enumerable honey-dos for his
daughters, spent time enjoying his grandchildren, snowmobiling, and
hunting.
In June 2008, Delton and Wilma moved from Greenwood
to Marshfield to be closer to their daughters. Delton suffered a
massive stroke on Oct. 31, 2011. At that time the family was
overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, cards, visits and other
touch points from those who knew Del. This was a great tribute to
Del's loving nature.
He expressed his sense of humor, his manners, and
his love for family until the end. The family is so thankful for
the care he received at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital and
Marshfield Care Center.
Delton is survived by his dear Wilma. He is further
survived by his children, Charlie Diedrich, Cindy McFarlane (Bob
Fink), Spring Fleming (Nick Poeschel), Becky Diedrich, Annie Eckes
(Mark), Jamie Jolivette (Becky Fitzl), and Vicki Foemmel (David).
His grandchildren are Jenny, Rick, Andrea, Jeff "Jack," Sylvia,
Kaila, Karly, Allie, Dylan, Brenda, John, Zach "Jack," and Kim. He
is further surived by eight great-grandchildren, Austen, Nathen,
Avery, Braedyn, McKynlie, Bobbie, Aaron and Sofia; and a favorite
aunt, Amber Johnson.
Lindsey Strey was an honorary
granddaughter.
Delton was predeceased by his father and mother;
favorite Uncle Delmond Johnson; two sons-in-law, Tim Eckes and Guy
Parsons; and one granddaughter, Jackie Barum.
