Neillsville Area Locals (4June 1964)

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stiemke of Tomah spent the weekend with friends here and did some work on their house on Black River Road.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith spent Saturday visiting relatives in the Sechlerville area.

Art Thoma, who spent the weekend with relatives and attended the wedding of Sandra Thoma Saturday, returned Monday to Berlin.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Appleyard and family spent the weekend in Berlin with her father, and several brothers and sisters.  Mr. and Mrs. Appleyard attended the 15^th class reunion of Mrs. Appleyard’s high school class Saturday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Loren Jelinski of Milwaukee, who were visiting relatives in Wausau, were Saturday evening guests of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Werner Jenni.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Quant of Milwaukee spent the Memorial weekend as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Werner Jenni.  Mrs. Quant is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Jelinski, former area residents.

Mrs. Blanche Zimmerman has left for an extended visit with her son and daughter and their families in Michigan.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Potter entertained their 500 card club at their home Sunday evening.

Mrs. Lorena Rude and Mrs. W. H. Allen were guests two days last week of Mrs. Allen’s sister, Mrs. Paul Hemp, in Rochester, Minn.  While there Mrs. Rude underwent a semi-check-up at the Mayo clinic.  One afternoon they were guests at the Rochester Country Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Evanson spent Memorial Day with Attorney and Mrs. W. C. Crocker at the Crocker cottage on the Chain O’ Lakes.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Jacobs of Monroe were dinner guests last week Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Evanson. The two families were neighbors 45 years ago prior to the moving of the Evansons to this community.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rowe of Akron, O., visited Memorial Day with his grandmother, Mrs. Herman Lenzkow, and with his aunt, Mrs. Arthur Dux, and her family.

The worship service Sunday at the Neillsville Methodist Church was unique in that it was conducted according to the original service by the church’s founder, John Wesley.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bruhn spent the Memorial weekend with their daughter, Mrs. Chester Williams, and her family in Oak Creek and with their son, W. Jay Bruhn, and his family in Muskego.

Pvt. Keith Marg arrived Friday evening for a two-week furlough with his father, Kurt Marg.  Keith has completed basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and on June 12 will report at Ft. Sill, Okla.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gehl of Marshfield were Sunday afternoon guests at the DR. T. N. Thompson home.  Mr. Gehl is a former extern of Memorial Hospital.  On June 8, he will graduate from the University/Wisconsin Medical School in Madison, and according to custom for medical graduates; he will have Dr. Thompson as his escort at the exercises.  Jerry will intern at the naval hospital in San Diego, Cal.  He will be accompanied there by his wife, who is a registered nurse.

Victoria Helwig of St. Paul, Minn., spent the weekend at the home of her parents.  Harry Helwig has completed his first year at Stevens Point State College.

Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Langreck were her sisters, Mrs. Alvin Jordan and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jaeckel of Two Rivers.

Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Benson drove to Cedar Falls Memorial Day to take care of graves at the cemetery.  They were dinner guests of a former schoolmate of Mrs. Benson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roach.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Drake spent the weekend in Kennan with her brother, George Erickson.
