Houpt, Fred (15 November 1878 - 2 June 1964)

 

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton for Fred Houpt, 85, of Granton, who died June 2, in Neillsville. The Rev. Edward Baum of Withee officiated with burial made in Loyal.

 

Mr. Houpt was born November 15, 1878, in Chilton. On December 2, 1908, he was married to the former Leona Hazeltine in Loyal. She preceded him in death in 1947.  They farmed in the Loyal area until 1947, when he moved to Granton.

 

He is survived by a son, Russell, of Granton; four grandchildren; a brother, William Houpt of Sanborn, N. D.; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Timm of Sumner, Ia.; and Mrs. Bertha Krueger of Columbus; and by two half-sisters, Mrs. Gretchen Mengle of Baker, Mont., and Mrs. Otto Lemke of Loyal.

 

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son.

 

Pallbearers were: Robert Elmhorst, Lucien Moh, Alvin Mott, Julius Rennak, Gilbert Coyle and Fred Marty.
