Ralph Lawson left on Wednesday for Alma on a several months stay.

Miss Minnie Bealer of Grand Rapids came Tuesday to visit relatives in the Chas. Neinas family.

Wm. Nast of Marblehead came up Monday to look after his real estate interest here.

Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Jones of Washburn transacted business here Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Deslow of Sheboygan Co. spent the first of the week here with Mr. and Mrs. Jacobi.

Knorr & Rausch this week sold Ford touring cars to Wm. Bartz and Ross Paulson.

The ballgame Sunday between Granton and Loyal resulted in a victory for the latter, the score being 3 to 5.

John Bladl has a crew of carpenters at work remodeling his building.

Roy Hayes of Edgerton, a prospective buyer of land in this neck of the weeds, was a guest in the J.E. Furgeson home in the town of Washburn early this week.

Free Converse is somewhat under the weather lately with heart trouble.

Miss Agnes Montgomery and her brother Master Lawrence Montgomery of Eau Claire, who came up last week and made a 6 day visit at the Wm. Kelpin home, returned to the city on Monday.

Mrs. Floyd Winn, accompanied by her sister Miss Gladys Wage, went to Eau Claire last Friday to consult physicians of that city in regard to Mrs. Winn’s condition.  It was decided that another operation was imperative and that Mrs. Winn should undergo same Monday morning.  Miss Wage came home Saturday night and returned to Eau Claire the next morning.  Mr. Winn and Dr. Rath autoed through early Monday morning that they might be in attendance at the operation which has since been reported to have been successful.

Mrs. Eva Canfield, Mrs. R.C. Beecher and daughter lulu, Mrs. L.G. Morris and son Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dubes, Mrs. C.E. Brooks, Mrs. W.J. Thayer and daughter Elva, Langdon Nichols, Frant Osgood and Aug. H. Riedel were Neillsville visitors Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Albion Snyder of Duluth visited relatives and old friends here several days this week.  They left their four children with his parents at Neillsville, owing to the prevalence of whooping cough and measles here.

Geo. Drake came down from Maplehurst early this week on a visit with relatives.  He went to Neillsville Monday to secure his hunting license and make arrangements for the coming hunting season.  George has not been in the best of health of late, being bothered with heart trouble.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schlinsog and daughter Violet and son Walter, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garbush and daughter Clara, Pari Goebel and family, John Goebel and family, and Mr. and Mrs. John Garbush were with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anding of Altoona, guests at the Philip Breseman home for supper Sunday evening.

Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller drove down and called on Washburn friends on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Witte and baby Alex, are home from their visit to Milwaukee and various other state points.

Mrs. John Breese had a birthday Wednesday and a few of her close friends being in the secret told it to others with the result that Mrs. Breese was made the victim of one of the nicest surprise parties ever held in this vicinity.

Last Tuesday evening a round dozen of Arthur Neinas’ boyfriends and cousins dropped in upon him for a farewell party before he left for Appleton where he intends to enter business college.  The evening passed very pleasantly, various games being played and a fine supper served (including ice cream manufactured by Harry Birch.)  The whole crowd then escorted Arthur to the depot, where he and Mr. Neinas took the midnight train for Appleton.  Some of the boys accompanied them as far as Marshfield.
