Sladek, Venzel J. (28 Sept 1871 - 4 Feb. 1959)
Venzel J. Sladek, 87 was found dead about 4:48 p.m. Feb. 4 in the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. Frank Sladek, Marshfield.
Authorities said Mr. Sladek hanged himself in a bedroom at the residence where he had made his home since September, 1954.
He was found by his son and daughter-in-law when they returned home from work. Death occurred sometime after 12 o’clock noon.
The body was taken to the Bergemann Funeral Home, Neillsville.
Funeral services were in the funeral home at 9 o’clock Saturday morning. The Rev. Joseph Eisenmann, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic church, Neillsville, officiated. Burial was in the Neillsville cemetery.
Mr. Sladek was born Sept. 28, 1871, in Czechoslovakia. He married the former Agnes Zvatos there on Jan. 7, 1902.
They came to America in 1911 and farmed in Clark County’s town of York until 1943 after which they moved to Neillsville. Mrs. Sladek died in Neillsville Sept. 16, 1954.
He is survived by three sons, Frank and John Slade, both of Marshfield and James Sladek, Lancaster, Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Mary) Walters, town of York.
Eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
