Granton (18 June 1964)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Richmond, Sr., of Cabool, Mo., who visited relatives in this area for several weeks have returned home. They were house guests of their son, Jesse Richmond, Jr., and his family.

 

Mrs. John Bladl of Plain visited friends in Granton one day last week.  Her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Bladl brought her to Granton. The Bladl’s left here about 35 years ago. The late Mr. Bladl operated a harness and repair shop in the village.

 

The Rev. and Mrs. F. C. Benecke have returned from a two-week vacation trip to Indiana and Illinois, where they visited their children and families.  Part of their vacation was spent on a fishing trip near Ontario, Canada.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William Kmiec and daughter of Palatine, Ill, were Monday and Tuesday guests of her parents, Rev. and Mrs. F. C. Benecke.

 

A/3c Ernest Sternitzky has returned to Linker, Okla., after spending a three-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sternitzky.

 

Miss Ruth Garbisch has completed her teaching duties and is spending the vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Garbisch.

 

Mrs. Vincent Gorst visited several days last week with relatives in Menasha.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidtke returned Monday after spending the weekend in northern Wisconsin.

 

Lloyd Spry returned home Thursday from Marshfield, where he was a hospital patient for several days.  He will return to the hospital later this month for a further examination.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnston and son left Monday for Bridgeport, Conn.  They resided with her mother, Mrs. Alton Schmidtke, since last September.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William T. Kirk of Milwaukee were Thursday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Garbisch. They were enroute for a week’s vacation in St. Croix County and St. Paul.  Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kirk and family of Chili visited with them Thursday evening at the Garbisch home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Mund and two children of Rockford, Ill., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Leland Garbisch.  Monday, accompanied by David Garbisch, they left for a vacation near Hayward. 

 

Mr. and Mrs. David Zerahn and daughter, DeEtte, visited last week with her sister, Mrs. Wendell Severson, in Grand Forks, N. D., and with her father, John Beard of Reynolds, N. D.  They report eight inches of ran fell at Grand Forks.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trimberger called Sunday evening at the Ernest Vollrath home in Greenwood.

 

Mrs. Bertha Guk returned Thursday from Marshfield, where she has been under observation at the hospital.

 

Dr. and Mrs. Russell Gardner, Jr., and daughter of New York City, N. Y., are spending several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gardner, Sr.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Trimberger and family of Antigo spent the weekend with area relatives.  Sunday they attended an open house for her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Counsell of rural Neillsville, who observed their 40th wedding anniversary.  Among the Granton people there were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trimberger, Mr. and Mrs. Freemon McHone and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hughes.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Van Kayser left Tuesday for Waterloo to visit their son, Allen, and his family.  In the afternoon they drove to Madison, where Mr. Kayser had a checkup. They returned to the home of their son for an overnight visit.
