Korth, Adolph (20 Jul 1896 – 10 May 1977)
Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at
Dorchester for Adolph Korth. The Rev. Roland Golz officiated and burial was in
Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Blazel, Norman Blazel,
Melvin Blazel, Robert Korth, Erwin Korth, and Donald Wolf. Kraut-Maurina Funeral
Home at Dorchester was in charge.
Mr. Korth died Tuesday, May 10, 1977 at 7 p.m. at Colonial House, at Colby. He
was born July 20, 1896 in Grant County, South Dakota. He lived there until 1964,
when he moved to Oshkosh. In 1970 he moved near Dorchester in the Town of
Mayville. He never married.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include nine nieces and 10 nephews. He was preceded in death by three
sisters on one brother.

Harry and Bobbie Krauss, formerly of Germantown, purchased the Krueger
Supermarket in Dorchester from Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Krueger, and began operations
Monday.
The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except on
Friday to 8 p.m. The couple plans to open Sunday mornings in the near future.

The Abbotsford girls track team brought home two trophies last week. The girls
received a first place trophy at the Auburndale Invitational, beating out
Athens, Auburndale, Granton, Greenwood, Port Edwards, and Owen-Withee.
At the Medford Invitational Abbotsford took a second place trophy to Medford,
who place first. Abbotsford did however, beat out Colby, Marshfield Columbus,
Edgar, and Owen-Withee.
Results of the Auburndale Invitational were: First place, Jeanie Apfelbeck, high
jump, Amy Lindberg, 100, Peggy Mantik, 830 and mile.
Second place: Val Conrad, Shot, Pam Mantik, 550, 440 relay Team, Brenda Venske,
and mile relay team.
Third place: Vicki Stettler, discus, Breda Venske,440, and mile relay team.
Result of Medford Invitational:
Firsts: Amy Lindberg, 100 and 220, Peggy Mantik, 880 and mile, Jeanette
Apfelbeck, high jump, and Pam Mantik, 440.
Third places: Sherri Treankler, 110 hurdles, Brenda Venske, 880, and Val Conrad,
Shot putt.

A birthday dinner and supper were held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don
Gipp in honor of their son, Corey, for his fourth birthday.

Judith Marie Jost, Unity, and Russell Ronald Bedroske, Dorchester, were united
in marriage April 23, 1977 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dorchester. The Rev.
Roland M. Golz officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Leon Jost, Unity, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Bedroske, Dorchester.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a white princess style gown
accented with pearl and lace trim, and featured a train. A Camelot headpiece of
matching lace held her veil. She carried a cascading bouquet of yellow roses,
white carnations and stephanotis.
Jamie Jost, Unity, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Kathy Dallmann,
Unity, and Mrs. Alan Rasmussen, Marshfield, were bridesmaids. Their gowns were
styled similar to the bride’s, the maid of honor in green and the bridesmaids in
yellow. Each carried a basket of daisies, carnations and lilies of the valley.
Their headpieces were floral wreaths.
Best man for the bridegroom was Gene Halopka, Dorchester. Groomsmen were Dave
Bedroske, Dorchester, and Alan Rasmussen, Marshfield.
Missy Brecke, Stetsonville, was flower girl and Mike Engevold, Spencer, ring
bearer.
Completing the wedding party were ushers Bob Michlig and Loren Bedroske.
A reception dinner and dance followed at the Dorchester Memorial Hall.
Both graduated from Colby High School, the bride in 1974 and the bridegroom in
1973. The bride also graduated in December 1976 from the data processing course
at North Central Technical Institute, Wausau, and is employed as a computer
operator for Sentry Insurance, Stevens Point.
The bridegroom is a 1974 graduate of the truck driver training course at Fox
Valley Technical Institute-Oshkosh.
They will make their home in Stevens Point.

Wednesday.

Kite construction winners were: First, Ludwig; second, Decker; third, Tom
Ruppert.

Susan Viergutz, daughter of Mrs. Hugo Mielke, graduated magna cum laude from the
University of Wisconsin, Whitewater recently. She received a bachelor of
business administration with a finance major.
Miss Viergutz will be employed as an underwriter in the commercial property
division of Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance in Minneapolis in mid-June, after
visiting her sister in Georgia.

Jane Loos Feldstein, a graduate of Colby High School, and daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Clinton Loos, Colby, will speak at the commencement exercises at Colby High
School on May 26, 1977 in Colby high school gym.
Mrs. Feldstein is a program and budget officer with the International Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) in Washington, D.C.
She is married to Michael Feldstein, who is the program coordinator for the
Sahel Development Program for the agency of International Development. They were
stationed in Accra Ghana for three and one-half years and traveled extensively
in West Africa. In her current position with the World Bank she has worked in
Kenya, Columbia and Peru.

Herrmann, Elsie (1 Aug 1901 – 19 May 1977)
Funeral services were held Monday, May 23, 1977 at the First United Church of
Christ, Colby, for Mrs. Elsie Herrmann, age 75, Colby.
The Rev. Kenneth Dix was officiating clergyman. Burial followed in Colby
Memorial Cemetery. Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, was in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. Herrmann passed away Thursday, May 19, 1977 at the Colonial House of Colby.
The former Elsie Volkmar was born August 1, 1901 in Abbotsford. She married
Alfred G. Herrmann on June 22, 1922, in rural Abbotsford.
They farmed in the Colby area until moving to Colby in 1958. She was a member of
the First United Church of Christ and its ladies guild, Royal Neighbors and
Eastern Star of Abbotsford.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Herrmann, Colby, and Glen Herrmann, Colby;
two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Evelyn) Ven Rooy, Colby, and Mrs. Eugene (Verna)
Blair, Abbotsford; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother,
Oscar Volkmar, Junction City, and two sisters, Mrs. Emaline Thede, New Holstein,
and Elfreda Volkmar, Owen.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 this afternoon, Wednesday, at Rux-Lulloff
Funeral Home, Colby, for Mrs. Meta Wellman, age 84, of rural Abbotsford.
The Rev. Kenneth Dix of First United Church of Christ will officiate at the
rites. Burial will follow at the Abbotsford Cemetery.
Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wellman passed away Sunday, May 22, 1977 at the Colonial House of Colby.
The former Meta Anders was born December 31, 1892 in Pewaukee. She married
Arthur Wellman on May 15, 1913 in the Town of Holton church.
The couple farmed all their life in the Town of Holton.
She is survived by two sons, Irvin Wellman and Vernon Wellman, both of the Town
of Holton; four daughters, Mrs. Ellen Grauman, Colby, Mrs. Jacelyn Brehm, Colby,
Mrs. Marian Mantor, Abbotsford, and Mrs. Kenneth (Delores) Brehm, Route 1,
Colby; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one grandson.
