Mengel, John A. (5 APR 1956 - 19 JAN 2012)

 

John A. Mengel, 55, of Granton, passed away peacefully on Jan. 19, 2012, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, with his family by his side. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Marshfield. Pastor David Scofield will officiate. 

Visitation was held from noon until 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield and will be held again on Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

John was born April 5, 1956, in Marshfield, the son of Harry and Vivian (Wentzel) Mengel. He attended Pittsville schools and worked as a dairy farmer. He was united in marriage on May 15, 1994, to Christine Parker.

Mr. Mengel cherished time spent with friends, family, and especially his children. John also enjoyed farming, fishing, horses, and a good picnic. Those that knew him best will always remember him for his warm spirit and his love of researching the law.

John is lovingly survived by his wife, Christine Mengel; his children, Casey Mengel and Gabrielle Mengel. He is further survived by his siblings, Donnie (Sandy) Mengel, Mary Stillman, and Bobby Mengel. 

His parents, Harry and Vivian, preceded John in death.
