Mildred J. Nystad, 80, died at 8:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Colfax United Methodist Church.

Mildred J. Holmes was born on March 10, 1931, in Wilmore, Kent., to Rev. Lee and Merle Holmes. She grew up in several Wisconsin towns, including Loyal, where her father was assigned as minister at Methodist churches. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1940. She married Orville Nystad on July 19, 1949. She will always be remembered by her family and friends for her loving, caring ways and gentle spirit.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Orville Nystad, Colfax; one daughter, Kathleen (David) Holling, Mooresville, Ind.; one son, David (Bonnie) Nystad, Elk Mound; four grandchildren; five grat grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Virgil (Lorna) Holmes, Milton; and two sisters, Ardis Anderson, Marshfield and Marjory (Calvin) Young, Tucson, Ariz.
