Shaw, Jerome (23 August 1864 - 22 July 1964)

 

Funeral services were held Friday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Jerome Shaw, 99, formerly of Neillsville, who died July 22 in an Osseo hospital. The Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Jerome Shaw was born August 23, 1864, in Wisconsin (son of Jerome Shaw, 1925-1883 & Caroline A. Wilson, 1827–1914 who married 19 Dec 1862 in Waukesha, WI) .  He lived most of his lifetime in the Neillsville area, where he farmed and did various work. In his later years he was a resident of the Subke home, until a year ago when he was taken to a nursing home in Fairchild.

 

He is survived by three sons, George, and Ray of Neillsville, and Clifford of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Perry (Jenniveve) Hahm of Lindsey, and Mrs. Roy Beckman of Black River Falls; and a sister, Mrs. R. R. Bullard of Eau Claire.  Other survivors are 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

 

"What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Nearer My God to Thee" were sung by Mrs. W. C. Koehler, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.  The pallbearers were six grandsons.

 

People from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ted Shaw and Linda of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Hahm of Lindsey; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lowe and family of Oakland, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Shaw, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Shaw, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Beckman of Black River Falls.

Mrs. Shaw who has been visiting her son (Jerome Shaw, 23 Aug 1864-22 July 1964), returned to her daughter's (Emma L. Campbell, 17 Nov 1864-) at Longwood last Friday.
