Buchanan, Doris C. (2 SEP 1903 - 21 JUN 1962)
The sudden death of Mrs. Glenn Buchanan, rural Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), shocked her family and friends Thursday of last week when she died at a hospital where she had gone to undergo surgery.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Methodist Church in Withee where she had been a devout member and untiring worker. The Reverends Carlson and Shaw officiated,w ith burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Emil V. Hansen, Wendell Steiner, George Gerber, Sig Sorenson, G. Turner and Harris Johnson.
Born Doris Charlotte Clifton on Sept. 2, 1903, in Withee, the deceased received her training in the Withee school system and then continued her education at Stevens Point Teachers College. For several years she followed the teaching profession, having taught at the Frenchtown and Oakdale schools.
She was united in marriage Aug. 25, 1927, to Glenn Buchanan in a ceremony performed at Withee. The couple farmed near Curtiss until 1934, when they moved to a farm near Frenchtown, farming there until their retirement in 1960.
Her sudden passing is mourned by her husband, two sons, Leonard of Withee and James of Chippewa Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Charlotte) Andreasen, Withee; three brothers, George Clifton, Appleton, Alvin Clifton, Chippewa Falls, and Ellard Clifton, Eau Claire; two sister, Mrs. Sidney (Margie) Jacobsen, Waukesha, and Mrs. Rudy (Arline) Jackovich, Iola, Wis., and five grandchildren.
