Elmer, Nancy Jean (Marriage - 8 August 1964)
The Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Rockford, Ill., was the scene Saturday of the double ring ceremony that united in marriage Nancy Jean Elmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smeltzer of Rockford, Ill., and Herbert H. Schoenherr of Rockford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert S. Schoenherr of Rt. 3, Neillsville. The officiating minister, the Rev. Walter Lamp, performed the ceremony before an altar graced with baskets of white and yellow gladioli and hydrangea.
As the bride approached the altar with her father, who gave her in marriage, she was attired in a ballerina-length gown of embroidered satin, styled with an overlay skirt of lace. The fitted bodice was accented with a rounded neckline and long sleeves. A crown, fashioned in the shape of a lily, was jewel studded, from which a shoulder length veil cascaded. She carried a colonial bouquet of white carnations and roses entwined with green.
Miss Carol Smeltzer, a cousin, was her maid-of-honor. Miss Beverly Schoenherr, sister to the groom, was bridesmaid. Edward Schoenherr was bestman. Groomsman was Richard Schoenherr; and Danny Neubecker of Rockford ushered.
A reception was held at 1 p.m. at the Smeltzer home in Rockford. At 7:30 p.m. another reception was held at St. John’s Lutheran School in Neillsville.
The bride is a graduate of the Rockford High School and has been employed in that city. Mr. Schoenherr, a graduate of Neillsville High School, is an executive in a machine company in Rockford.
Mr. and Mrs. Schoenherr will reside at 221 Morris Dr., Rockford, on their return from a wedding trip to Wisconsin Dells and other points in southern Wisconsin.
Attending the wedding from the Neillsville area were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert S. Schoenherr and two children; and Mrs. Elsie Neubecker and three children.
