The frost is staying off quite well this year, and the corn is getting quite ripe.  There is a lot of it very good.

Herman Henning bought the house, barn and 5 acres from E.R. Behringer.  Will Neinas bought the remaining 28 acres from Mr. Behringer.  Will is going to build a house this fall.

Dr. Housley bought the house and two lots from Frank Waterman.

R. Ebert and wife had a narrow escape from very serious injury Sunday afternoon when, while driving home, the neck yoke broke, letting the pole down to the ground.  The horses started to run and after the little pole got stalled in the ground, raising the buggy and throwing Mr. and Mrs. Ebert out on both sides.  Luckily neither was hurt very bad.  The horses finally ran home.  One of them got two big slivers into the foot right above the hoof.

Some more stock was shipped this week from here.

Herman Montag had a week’s vacation.  He used the time to tramp around the country and visit his folks at Lynn.

Several times have articles appeared in this paper concerning potatoes, and when they ought to be brought to market. A potato must be marketable, that is of good size, nothing smaller than a big size , neither overly large, because they are likely to be hollow, no scabby ones, sun burnt or green.  The best way is to pick up the marketable potato right from the field and keep them separate.  Keep the different kinds of potatoes separate, especially red ones from the white ones.

Harry Cole and Ed Riedel bought each a new buggy at Chili this and last week.

The Misses Knorr and Lillian Tragsdorf autoed over from Granton and Spent Thursday evening at the Clark Waterman home.

Mrs. Otto Sampe and children, with Mrs. E.R. Behringer, spent Friday visiting relatives at Marshfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Al Snow were business callers at Marshfield between trains last Friday.

Fred Dankemyer, Rudy Ebert, Geo. Lye and Otto Kempin are home for the west.

Frank Waterman was a business caller at Neillsville Tuesday.

The ballgame Sunday afternoon between the boys and men was good.  They played a game of nine innings which ended in a tie, the score being nine to nine.  They played three more innings, which made the scores fourteen to fifteen in favor of the boys.

Don’t fail to read Anton Hogenson’s big ad in this issue.

A dance will be given at the Chili Opera Hall Saturday evening, Sept. 20th.  Music will be by the Dunerbauer orchestra.
