Zawadski, Joseph F. (PhD. - 7 JUN 1962)
Joseph Francis Zawadski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zawadski of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), was graduated with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Loyola University, Chicago, on June 7, 1962. The title of his dissertation was "A Study of the (1-Penylcyloalky) acetaldehyde Decarboxylation." He received the Master of Science degree from Loyola in 1960. While at Loyola he was first awarded a teaching assistantship, and then he was honored by being a National Science Foundation Fellow during his last three years of study. He is an associate member of the Loyola Chapter of Sigma Xi, a national honorary society, and a member of the American Chemical Society.
Dr. Zawadzki received his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Northland College in 1957. This is the highest possible recognition of scholastic excellence, which represents practically a straight A average.
He was graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1953 from Withee High School.
The new Ph.D. is now engaged in post-doctorate work as a research associate at the University of Chicago with Professor N.C. Yang.
