Ciokiewicz, Joseph (1 OCT 1871 - 29 JUL 1962)

 

Funeral services were held from St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Stanley Wednesday for Joseph Ciokiewicz, 125 Barber St., who died at his home Sunday at the age of 90.

 

The Rev. Fr. Georges P. Mathieu officiated at the 10:00 a.m. Mass.  Pallbearers were Nick Jankoski, Vic Drozd, Walter Liaczuk, Chester and Fred Rogschka, and Norbert Micke.  Burial was in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery at Thorp.

 

Mr. Ciokiewicz was born in Poland Oct. 1, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Ciokiewicz.  He was married in Poland in 1899 to Mary Oniczuk; they came to the United States in 1900 and settled in the Thorp area, where they farmed for 45 years.  When they retired 16 years ago they moved to Stanley, living there ever since.
