Hilt, Raberta Ann (21 JUL 1962)

On Saturday, July 21st, 1962, Raberta Ann Hilt became the bride of James D. Strohkirch.  The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. W.T. Bloy at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Chippewa Falls, at 2:00 p.m.

Parents of the couple are Mrs. Rachel Hathaway, 731 West Spruce St., Chippewa Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Strohkirch, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).

Mrs. Howard Gibbs accompanied Mrs. Kenneth Brist as she sang, "O Promise Me" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Clare Sayner of La Crosse.  Silk organza and Rose point lace fashioned her floor length bridal gown.  The fitted Basque featured long tapered lace sleeves and a pearl embroidered scalloped neckline.  The silk organza skirt was highlighted with a lace front panel and a scalloped lace border sweeping into the …(some of my article was missing)… maid.  They wore identical dresses of Nile green organza over taffeta cinched with satin cummerbunds with back bows accenting their full skirts.  Satin bows with blush veil were worn in their hair.  They carried bouquets of Nile green and white daisies.

William Strohkirch of Owen was his brother’s best man.  Ushers were James Goettl, brother-in-law of the bride; Lynn Filip and Jeff Miller, both of Owen, friends of the groom.

The mother of the bride received the guests in a blue dress with blue and white accessories and a corsage of white carnations and red rose buds.  The groom’s mother wore a beige dress with beige accessories, to which she pinned a similar corsage.

A reception was held at the Ojibwa Club following the ceremony, where 200 guests greeted the couple.  Miss Norma Miller, friend of the bride, poured and Miss Irene Strohkirch, Milwaukee, sister of the groom, cut and served the wedding cake.  Mrs. Gerald Paff and Miss Joanne Fliehr, friends of the bride, served at the bridal table.  Mrs. James Cardinal was in charge of the guest book and Miss Joanne LeVasseur, Miss Ruth Hub and Miss Patricia Johnson, friends of the bride, opened the gifts.

After a trip in northern Wisconsin, the couple will make their home in Waukegan, Ill., where the groom is employed by Johnson Motors.

Two pre-nuptial showers were given for the bride, one by Mrs. James Goettl and the other by Mrs. Gerald Paff.  A personals shower was given by Mrs. James Cardinal and Miss Norma Miller, and a surprise shower, gift was given by a group of woman from the Evangelical U.B. Church.
