Elmer Hoesly, 89, of
Neillsville, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Ministry Saint Joseph's
Hospital in Marshfield.
Elmer August Hoesly was born on April 30, 1922, in Neillsville, the
son of Markus and Johanna (Resong) Hoesly. He graduated from
Neillsville High School in 1940, and in 1943 was united in marriage
to Alice Sollberger in Neillsville. In 1945, they moved to
Marshfield and Elmer worked for the Marshfield Canning Co. as a
field man. In 1951, he started working for Marshfield Public
Schools. He worked for the school system until 1965 and then he
began working for the City of Marshfield as a building maintenance
engineer. He retired in 1984 and they moved to the town of Hewett
in Clark County.
Alice died on Aug. 4, 1991, but Elmer stayed active, serving on the
town board for the Town of Hewett and also serving on the Clark
County Board of Supervisors for 10 years from 1992 to
2002.
Elmer was a member of the United Church of Christ in Neillsville
and the Eagles Club of Marshfield.
He is survived by his very special friend, Mary Heimstad of
Neillsville, a daughter, Carol (Scott) Fuqua of San Bernadino,
Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hoesly of Spencer; five
grandchildren, Christie, Cory, Wayde, Gavin and Darby; and four
great-grandchildren, Kashton, Kyson, Kayla and Breck. He is further
survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; a son,
John; and a sister, Helen Rowe.
A Memorial Service for Elmer will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb.
9, 2012, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor
Bryan Olson will officiate. Music will be provided by Joe Anderson,
vocalist.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9 at the
United Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: The Bell Tower
Fund at the United Church of Christ, 515 W. Second St.,
Neillsville, WI 54456.
