The arithmetic classes are still reviewing the fore part of their texts, picking out the hardest problems for practice work.
The Geometry class is busy with the 7th to 12th proposition this week. Some exercises are also worked.
Physical Geography work is large and general. Our field of work this week is land and water formations, the earth crust and the changes it had to undergo before man began to claim it.
Questions left open for opinions were the following:
How about the first blade of grass?
How about the first animals?
How about the first man.
Civil government students are very interested in their field. They are just studying the executive department of the U.S. This field is very interesting because of the new president in power doing things in just a little different way than others used to do. We are watching if Mr. Wilson is going to be true to his promise in his new legislation. The tariff change has reached it completion. The finance legislation has passed the house by a vote of 286 to 84. We do not understand the new finance law. We are going to see our local cashier and see what he thinks of the new plan. People who follow a certain business always understand that business best.
Bookkeeping is easy now because the first months in this work are small business accounts.
The 10th grade is studying weeds now. The purpose is to acquaint themselves with those common farm weeds which are easily transported in grass seeds, and other grains which are shipped for seeding purposes.
The 8th grade agriculture group is busy with studying and selecting corn. We have made one field trip and expect to make another very soon.
We have just collected enough money to get a nice football to take up the leisure time on the school grounds.
Our next week’s notes will be more extensive throughout the school.
