A nice rain Friday of last week, after which it turned suddenly cold and Saturday, Sunday and Monday were three blustery days, especially when we compare them with the fine weather we have been having.  Monday morning showed up plenty of ice wherever water was at all exposed.

Aug. Broker took Mr. and Mrs. Opelt to Marshfield Friday of last week by auto.  Mabel had another chance to come home for Sunday.

Max Opelt of Lynn drove his brother Will to Marshfield Sunday to see Mrs. Opelt at the hospital.  Mr. Opelt say he almost froze.

Amata Crance returned to her home Saturday after several weeks at the Broker home.

Ketelle’s filled their silo the first part of the week.

Your correspondent failed to make mention that Will Haertl was shingling the Progress Schoolhouse.  Together with the other improvements made, that district now has a fine school building.  Julius Kramer did the painting for them.

For some time H.H. Johnson has been waiting and expecting the lumber for a silo.  Saturday it came to Progress and he had to haul it from there by team, making an extra haul for him of over 4 miles.  We understand that it is of Vesper make.

Art Seifert purchased a large house and barn at Progress, tore them down and hauled the lumber out on his new place west of the Washburn schoolhouse where he will erect a new house and barn.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Opelt went to Marshfield last Friday and Mrs. Opelt was taken to the hospital where she underwent an operation for a gathering in the breast.  Dr. Milbee was the attending surgeon.  She stood the ordeal in good shape and at this writing is doing fine.

Rev. and Mrs. Geo. Dewey of Grand Rapids were visiting Lindsey friends Thursday and Friday of last week.  They made the trip by auto, returning Friday evening as far as Veedum.

Herman Hahm, who has been in St. Joseph Hospital at Marshfield with a broken leg, was able to come home Tuesday of last week.  It is reported that he is able to get around by the use of crutches.

Theo. Seifert moved their household goods last Monday into Harry Washburn’s house just west of the Washburn schoolhouse.

Nellie Broker is contemplating going to Grand Rapids on Saturday.
