Mrs. Chas. Neinas visited Neillsville friends Monday.

 

August Hammler transacted business at the county seat last Saturday.

 

Mrs. W.S. Davis entertained the Circle Wednesday afternoon.

 

G.E. Amidon sold his drug store building to Williams and Wonser.

 

A dance will be given in G.E. Amidon’s new building Oct. 11th.

 

A.J. Knorr went to Minneapolis Wednesday.

 

Robert Tompkins visited his parents here last Saturday.

 

Rose Yankee of Lynn spent Monday with friends at Neillsville.

 

Miss Verna Keller of Chili spent the weekend here at the F. Richter home.

 

Charles Renne of East Co. line transacted business here and at Neillsville on Monday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Clark Waterman of Chili were over Sunday guests at the E.A. Beeckler home.

 

Fred Zille and daughter Esther came home last Friday from a several days visit at Fond du Lac.

 

Miss Irma Albrecht spent Sunday with relatives near Chili.

 

Mrs. Augusta Riedel and daughter Alma spent Sunday at the John Barth home in Nasonville.

 

Leo Peterson went to Oshkosh Monday wereh he is since attending the high school in that city.

 

Miss Helene Anding was an over Sunday guest in the Sherman Gress home at Neillsville.

 

Fergie Richter and family autoed to Stanley last Sunday with Paul Handt and spent the day among relatives.

 

Mr. and Mrs. M.G. Graves of Oakfield, after a several weeks visit at the son W.K. Graves in York, returned home Monday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hart autoed over to Marshfield Monday afternoon and remained overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Chapel.

 

Mrs. Geo. Jacque and Mrs. C. Mick drove out from Neillsville and spent Tuesday with Mrs. Clemens Kuechenmeister.

 

Miss Selma Kuechenmeister came up from Stevens Point last Saturday and remained until Wednesday under the parental roof.

 

Mrs. Gerzemehle, Mr. and Mrs. John Breese, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. H. Hayden, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. H.S. Agin, Mrs. Fred Tyler, Mrs. Hale Davis, Bert Corey, G.E. Amidon, H.E. Williams and E.R. Wonser were among the Grantonites at Neillsville Saturday.

 

Mrs. Hattie Beeckler went to Chippewa Falls Sunday and entered one of that city’s hospitals where she has again undergone an operation for the removal of a tumor.  This is her second operation there inside a few months.  Mrs. Beeckler received a letter last Saturday to the effect that her mother, Mrs. Frances Burdick of Seymour, was quite ill.

 

Baby Marion Schoengarth’s second birthday was celebrated Tuesday afternoon in a most pleasant manner for all concerned, when her mother, Mrs. Herman Schoengarth, entertained at tea, her sister Mrs. R. Rath and five of their close school friends and the babies of those fortunate enough to have them.  Among those present were Mrs. Rath, Mrs. Hale Davis and son Robert, Mrs. Rella Osgood and baby Frances Wright Osgood, Miss Ora Marsh, Mrs. Floyd Winn and her sister Miss Gladys Wage.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Pierewitz of South Grant, autoing to Marshfield with their son driving on Wednesday morning, had the steering gear on their car give way and precipitate them into the ditch.  They luckily escaped serious harm.  The accident happened on the town of lynn’s new turnpike road and A.J. Knorr was summoned in the hope that he coule repair the car and they could proceed to Marshfield, but it was found the car’s injuries, the front axle bent, and other serious things were too much to be quickly repaired, so A.J. brought Mr. and Mrs. Pierewitz to town while the son waited there for his brother-in-law Max Wagner of Marshfield to come with men and tools and help him out of the difficulty, Wagner being in the auto repair business.

 

Mrs. Chas. Brooks spent Wednesday with friends at Neillsville.

 

Rev. Wolf and family are home from Evansville since Tuesday.

 

Al Snow of Chili transacted business here on Tuesday.

 

Byrl Winn Went to Marshfield on business on Tuesday.

 

Vincent Barrows of Neillsville was here on business several days last week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lowery came home Tuesday from their visit withrelatives and friends at Wheeler and Stanley.

 

Mrs. Carl Roehl spent Tuesday with her son Herman and his family at Chili.

 

Glyde and Arleigh Graves are staying with their grandpa Graves during their mother’s absence at the hospital at Marshfield.

 

Joseph Jacobson of Sherwood and Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Jones of Washburn were in town Tuesday.

 

Lem Curtis and family moved up from Richland Center and took possession of their new farm, the Andrew Heath place, on Tuesday.

 

Frank Bender, who recently opened a shoe shop at Unity, was down here for an Sunday visit among old friends.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Sparks of Sherwood were in town Saturday and visited their daughter Edith at the Rella Osgood home.

 

Otto Garbush and Mrs. Mary K. Garbush visited relatives at Wausau late last week.

 

Sadie and Vernie Bass went to Marshfield Saturday and made an over Sunday visit among relatives and friends.

 

Mrs. Kissam and daughter Mildred of Madison have been guests of the Frad Cole family for the past two weeks.

 

Mrs. W.S. Davis and daughter Gertrude, Mrs. S.B. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Gus bergeman and Mrs. Isla Galbreath were county seat visitors Friday.

 

Paul Beil of Chili transacted business here and at the county seat Monday.

 

Miss Lettie Slocomb, who is assisting Mrs. James Hughes with her household duties, spent Sunday with friends at Greenwood.

 

Mrs. Erny of Marengo, Ill. arrived here Monday for a visit with Mrs. Theo. Kissling and family.

 

Mrs. Joe Goebel came home on Monday from her visit with Mr. and Mrs. Gust Deutsch at Friendship.

 

Geo. Garbush and Fred Gerber transacted business at the county seat on Monday.

 

Chas. Brooks was at Marshfield on business Monday.

 

The Knorr & Rausch Co. got another car load of Ford autoes last Wednesday.

 

Mrs. T.D. Wage and her daughter Mrs. Floyd Winn entertained the O.E.S. Birthday Club at a delightful party last Saturday afternoon.  Mrs. A.J. Knorr carried off the honors, a hand embroidered sofa pillow in the guessing contest.

 

Lynn Knorr returned to Champagne, Ill., where he holds the responsible position of comptroller of the university at that place.  His father took him to Merrillan by auto Sunday afternoon.

 

The closing of cheese factories and creameries in this section of the country during the winter months will soon be a thing of the past.  The silo materially aided the farmers to make dairying a profitable business during the winter.

 

Miss Elsie Twitchell of Chicago is here visiting her uncle Robert Fredette since Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Bruno Dudei and son Harold spent Tuesday with friends at Neillsville.

 

Mrs. Ottoof Marathon City visited Mrs. Tom Counsell one day last week.

 

Frank Converse came up from Melrose Monday and after a day’s visit with old friends here left for Maplehurst to join Geo. Drake.

 

Chas. Mundt of Chili spent much of Tuesday and Wednesday here on business.

 

Miss Lillie Shapiro, on of last year’s teachers who left here in June to go abroad and spent the summer in France, passed through here Wednesday morning enroute to her home in Medford, on her return from "across the pond" and exchanged pleasant greetings with those of her old friends who were fortunate to have been at the depot.

 

Mrs. Wilde and daughter Viola and baby Ethel and Mrs. W.G. Otto, after a week’s visit at the W.F. Dahlke’s, returned home to Marathon City on Saturday.
