Wm. Waterman Sr., one of the town of Grant’s (Clark Co., Wis.) well known pioneers, answered the final summons and passed to his reward Monday night, Sept. 29th, 1913. Mr. Waterman was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War and through his service there suffered the loss of an arm, but this did not keep him from assuming the responsibilities or performing the labor of more able bodied men. He came here when Clark County was new and established a home in the wilderness, hewing his way at became an able bodied man. He was for years engaged as stage driver between Neillsville and Marshfield, conveying the mail and sjuch persons as wished to go, by stage to and from these cities for years before the railroad was built between them. He died at his son Will’s up on the farm where he first settled here in Clark County. Here he reared a large family of worthy sons and daughters, namely Edward, John, Henry, Nelson, Della, Mrs. Geo. Vine, Mary, Mrs. Arthur Loveless and William, all of whom will through the balance of their lives, remember with much love and respect their mother and father gone before.
The funeral was held from the Ridge brick church Wednesday afternoon with interment in the Grant Cemetery beside the body of his wife who preceded him by many years.
