Yorkston, Gilbert H. (10 June 1889 - 11 September 1964)
Funeral services were held Monday for Gilbert H. Yorkston, 75, Neillsville, who died Friday. The Rev. Oscar Nichols of the Neillsville Methodist Church officiated at services from the Georgas Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Town of Grant Cemetery.
Gilbert Yorkston was born June 10, 1889, in the Town of Lynn. His parents were the late William and Catherine (Breseman) Yorkston. He attended rural school in Lynn and Northwestern Business College.
He was a veteran of World War I, having served overseas with the navy as a photographer. He also was a member of the Navy Band. After receiving his discharge, he was employed in a bank in Ladysmith. He later moved to Neillsville, where he was engaged in professional sign painting.
He was a member of the Richmond-Haugen Post, No. 73, American Legion.
Mr. Yorkston, who never married, is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Leslie (Neva) Yorkston of Neillsville; and a nephew, Robert L. Yorkston of Milwaukie, Ore.
Pallbearers were: Arthur Carl, August Janke, Donald Gall, Orville Jake, John Swenson and George Prochazka.
"Abide with Me" and "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," were sung by Ellis Wall accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott.
Attending the services from Chili were Mr. and Mrs. Louie Breseman, Mrs. Fred Breseman and Mrs. Raymond Lindow. From Wisconsin Rapids were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sprafke, and Mrs. Elmer Kristy. Others were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meissner of Marshfield; Mrs. Fred Zuehlke and MR. and Mrs. Floyd Pietenpol of Granton.
