Kuenkel, Oscar E. (26 April 1894 - 12 September 1964)
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe for Oscar E. Kuenkel, 70, of Rt. 3 Neillsville, who died Saturday at his home. The Rev. David Witte officiated. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.
Oscar E. Kuenkel was born April 26, 1894, in the Town of Hendren, the first white male to be born there. He resided in Hendren for his entire life. He served in World War I, and following his discharge was engaged in farming. He served as a member of the school board for several terms.
He was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Church of Globe. On October 8, 1919, he was married to the former Marie McCune in Globe.
Mr. Kunkel is survived by his wife; two children, Mrs. Art (Irene) Zerbel of Humbird and Mrs. Tony (Ruth) Ulesich of Willard; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Selma) Wagner, Mrs. Tillie Modersohn and Mrs. Fred (Olga) Marg, all of Rt. 3 Neillsville; and a brother, Paul, of Rt. 3 Neillsville. Three grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were Lyman Heidemann, Robert Ladd, Harold Thoma, Robert Seif, Leo Henchen and Louis Worchel. Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
"Abide with Me" and "Jesus I Live to Thee" were sung by the church choir, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Wagner.
People from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Baldwin of Richland Center; Dr. and Mrs. Frank Baldwin of Sun Prairie; C. F. Baldwin of Washington, Ill.; Mrs. Beulah Pickett of Deerfield; Mr. and Mrs. Art McCune of East Peoria, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Timmler and Mrs. Albert Wehrman of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ulesich, Mrs. Fred Barr, Mrs. Marion Celar and Mrs. Frank Celar of Greenwood; Mrs. William Theiler, Sr., Mrs. John Greub, Mrs. Chester Bailey, Mrs. Donald Zerbel, Mrs. Bernard Sheffer and Mrs. La Verne Kauffman, all of Humbird.
