Gilbertson, Mable (5 FEB 1902 - 29 SEP 1962)

 

After a lingering illness, Mrs. Engman (Mable) Gilbertson, age 60, passed away at St. Agnes Hospital at Fond du Lac on Sept. 29, 1962.  She was laid to rest in the family lot at the Rosendale Cemetery with funeral services held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac on Oct. 1, 1962, at 2:00 p.m. with funeral arrangements made by the Candlish Funeral Home of Fond du Lac.

 

Serving as pallbearers were four sons-in-law, Walter Hallwachs, Melvin Johns, James Marcoe and Gerald White; a nephew, Albert Bathagor Jr., and a cousin, Kenneth Kohls.

 

Mrs. Gilbertson was born in Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), on Feb. 5, 1902, the daughter of William F. Smith and Augusta (Zimmerman) Smith.  She was married in Curtiss to Engman Gilbertson and they resided on farms in both the Curtiss and Withee areas before moving to Fond du Lac in 1938.  They raised a family of eight children, two boys and six girls, with one daughter deceased.

 

Surviving Mrs. Gilbertson’s death are her husband, two sons, Howard of Minneapolis, and Harold of Fond du Lac; five daughters, Mrs. Walter (Elaine) Hallwachs, Marjorie Gilbertson, both of Milwaukee; Mrs. James (Le Moine) Marcoe, Mrs. Melvin (Phyllis) Johns and Mrs. Gerald (Janet) White of Fond du Lac, and 17 grandchildren.

 

Relatives from this area who attended the funeral on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith, Mrs. Joseph Karaba, Fred Hamm, Mrs. Milford smith, of Owen; Albert Smith, Mrs. Martha Hormel of Curtiss, and Eldon Smith of Stratford.
