Foemmel’s Corners (15 September 1911)
Truman Davis and wife, Frank Davis and his wife returned last Thursday from Minnesota where they went to attend the state fair.
Mr. Curtis plastered Mr. Lammer’s barn last week.
Neil Downer filled Frant Osgood’s silo this week.
Joe Frei didn’t work for Truman Davis last week. He failed to fulfill his promises.
Chas Beeckler is building a wall for Geo. Root’s silo.
Frank Lavey put up his silo the first of the week.
Miss Ruth Lee came Friday and stayed until Sunday between the J. Pietenpol and Solon Davis homes.
Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Lee Sundayed at John Pietenpol’s
Mr. Frank Krejci and family attended the wedding of Anton Schafer (a brother of Mrs. K.) last week Wednesday.
Mrs. Chas. Northup and son Floyd took dinner with Mrs. Truman Davis last week Friday.
Hale Davis spent Friday night with his brother Truman.
Miss Morris the school ma’am is boarding with Mrs. Geo. Hales.
Chas Northup threshed in this vicinity the latter part of last week.
Ed Ackerman had a saw mill on his place near the factory and now has a nice little pile of lumber.
The threshing machines keep the path-masters busy fixing up the culverts.
Al Nonhof seems to be satisfied with things at the factory here and didn’t have any notion of going elsewhere, but last Monday morning after having loaded his milk and just after a bright flash of lightning and a hard clap of thunder the team thought they’d haul milk where they pleased. So they ditched one-can before they reached Truman Davis’ and the other two at Foemmel’s corner, leaving only 11 pounds in the cover. From there they went straight to Granton and took their places in a wagon shed where Al found them a little later.
Dale Lee and family visited at the Solon Davis home last Sunday.
Mrs. Bush Davis of Loyal visited her son Erlo and wife this week.
Mr. Vanderhurst from near Marshfield began work for Al Nonhof last week.
Victor Cole has been carrying mail for the past week or ten days.
