Cards Written in July Arrive from Japanese Prison Camp
Capt. Lester A. Schade, 27, a member of Japanese Prison Camp No. 1 in the Philippines since the capture of Bataan by the Japanese on April 9, 1942, informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schade, town of Holton on postcards receive by them early last week that he was in excellent health and that he was hopeful to see the war end and of returning home soon.
The cards were the first word received from him since last August and his parents received a card from him reporting he was in good health.
Two of the cards were received last Monday and the third arrived Tuesday. One was undated, while the another was dated last May 6 and said that he had not received any mail from his parents. The other card was dated last July 15 and states that he had received their letters.
