Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kruger celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 14. The former Helen Gertrude Kromer and Gilbert Kruger were married in Appleton, June 21, 1919.
The celebration of the wedding anniversary occurred a week early so that all of the children might be home for the event. Their children are Mrs. Gilbert (Dorothy Jean) Loos, Jack Kruger, and Richard Kruger. There are eight grandchildren. All were present for the festivities.
A 12:30 p.m. dinner was served at Slims Steak House in Marshfield for members of the family, the two mothers, and the attendants of the original wedding, who were Mrs. Boettcher and Mr. Kromer.
Supper was served at the home for 75 relatives and friends and in the evening many callers came for the open house.
Many nice gifts and cards expressing congratulations and best wishes were received by the honored couple.
Guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Boettcher, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kromer, Two Rivers; Miss Louise Grant, Waupaca; Miss Alma Werner, Friendship; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Werner, Grand Marsh; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Quinn, Westfield; Mr. and Mrs. Holden Leitz, Coloma; Mr. and Mrs. Max Opelt, Granton, and Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Giese, Withee.
