Central Clark County (5 November 1964)

 

Albert Davel of Loyal celebrated his 90th birthday October 31 at his home in Loyal.  Mr. Davel recently underwent eye surgery and is now just beginning to take his occasional walks. Mr. and Mrs. Davel are the parents of 11 children; 37 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Victor McHone and two sons, and Mrs. Freeman McHone have returned to Loyal from a 3,000 mile vacation trip through South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana, where they visited relatives and friends. Enroute home they came through North Dakota, Canada, Minnesota and northern Wisconsin.

 

Recent guests at the home of Mrs. Blanche Schmidt of Loyal were Mrs. Dolly Vick of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Anding of Granton, Mrs. Howard Olsen of Owen, and Mrs. Bob Jackson of Greenwood.

 

Mrs. Anna Catlin of Loyal was hostess at a birthday party October 23 honoring her brother, Harold Johnston.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William Karth of Hayden Lake, Idaho, were recent weekend guests at the Herb White home in Loyal. The Whites and their guests were supper guests at the Mrs. Effie Swieso home in Greenwood.  They also called at the John Kelty home in Greenwood.

 

Donald Miller left October 25 for Pearl Harbor, where he will be on a submarine duty.  He spent a 20-day furlough with his father, the Rev. Paul Miller, of Loyal.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Alan Larson and son of Wautoma visited recently with her father, the Rev. Paul Miller of Loyal, and with her brother, Donald.

 

Mrs. Emil Schefchik and family and Mrs. Art Gregory of Loyal, drove to Milwaukee recently where they attended funeral services of a relative.

 

Miss Martina Davel has returned to Chicago, Ill., after spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Theisen, Sr., in Loyal.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Habbegger of Loyal went to Clintonville, where they joined his niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Schlender.  The two couples flew to Chicago and from there continued on by plane to Carlsbad, Cal., to visit relatives.

 

The committee in charge of the Election Day dinner at the York Center town hall consisted of Mrs. Otto Schmidtke, Mrs. William Eibergen and Mrs. Ray Hetzel. A bazaar was held in connection with the dinner.

 

Mrs. Violet DeGraw of Loyal was hostess to the October meeting of the past Matrons club of the Order of Eastern Star. The November meeting was held November 4 at the home of Mrs. M. W. Erickson.

 

Fifty guests from Neillsville, Greenwood, Owen and Marshfield, attended the "Friends Night" of the Iris Chapter, No. 264, Order of Eastern Star, in Loyal. 

 

Forty-two students of the Greenwood vocational agriculture department toured the Tri-State cooperative in Westby recently. They were accompanied by Victor Wagner, instructor.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Kuehn of Greenwood will hold open house November 7 at their home in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.

 

Luann Susa of Kenosha spent four days recently with her mother, Agnes Susa, and her family, of Greenwood.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Friski of Whitehall and son, Fred, were recent guests of Mrs. Adelbert Wells of Greenwood. Fred recently returned from Vietnam.
