McAdam, Gertrude (12 AUG 1874 - 17 FEB 1963)
Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas McAdam, 88, of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) were held at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 20 from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home. Rev. Ralph Claybaugh of the First Congregational Church of Owen officiated, with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harry Probst Jr., Schofield; William McAdam, Withee; Donald Gehrke and Eugene McAdam, Augusta; Thomas Tobola, Cadott, and J.R. Barager, Owen. In charge of the floral offerings were Diane and Nancy Probst, Schofield, and Jean and Barbara Barager, Owen.
Mrs. Thomas McAdam, nee Gertrude Kinney, was a pioneer resident of the village of Withee, having lived there for the past 55 years. She was born Aug. 12, 1874, at Lake Geneva, Wis., where she received her education which prepared her for the teaching profession which she followed for several years.
On Feb. 22, 1892, she was united in marriage to Thomas McAdam in a ceremony performed at Lake Geneva. The couple moved to Withee in 1908 where she had since made her home, endearing herself to numerous friends over the years with her quiet understanding personality.
New Year’s Day she admitted an illness which required hospitalization and was admitted to Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley. She was treated there for three weeks and then transferred to Luther Hospital at Eau Claire for further treatment. On the 31st of January she returned to Owen to become a resident of the Havenet Nursing Home, where she passed away at 9:20 Sunday night.
Her passing is mourned by a son, Roscoe of Augusta; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Ada) Probst of New Auburn; and Mrs. Harry (Bernice) Raymond of Winter Haven, Florida, and eight grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death, passing away in 1945 and a son, Alexander McAdam, died in 1935.
