Marden, Betty Jane (Marriage - 14 November 1964)
Miss Betty Jane Marden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marden of Rt. 2 Neillsville, was given in marriage by her father, to Leo E. Lindner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Lindner of Rt. 2 Neillsville, in a double ring ceremony performed Saturday afternoon in Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine Valley, by the Rev. Evan Dieck of the Town of Grant.
"The Lord’s Prayer" and "The Wedding Prayer" were sung by Wilfred B. Galstad of Neillsville, accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Karnitz of Neillsville.
The bride wore a floor-length gown of white brocade, styled with a controlled skirt fashioned by impressed pleats, the back being completed with a detachable Watteau train accented with self-fabric bow trim. The Basque bodice was styled with a Bateau neckline. Her fingertip veil of illusion was secured to an open crown pillbox of peau de soie with bow trim. She carried a lace covered white Bible, topped by a yellow throated orchid, surrounded with stephanotis. White showers cascaded from the bouquet.
Miss Jana Lee Marden, sister of the bride, served as maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Gene Huth, sister of the groom; and Miss Eileen Zank of Neillsville, a friend.
The attendants were attired in floor length formals of peau satin with fitted bodices. A folded cummerbund topped the sheath skirts, which were accented in back by Watteau panels with bow trim. The maid-of-honor’s dress was in gold and the bridesmaids were emerald green. Each had fresh Empress Chrysanthemums, accented with velvet leaves attached to veil headpieces. They carried large Empress Chrysanthemums, accented with velvet leaves and pompon beribboned showers. The maid of honor’s bouquet was in bronze and the bridesmaids’ in white.
Merlin Lindow of Neillsville served as bestman. Groomsmen were Gene Huth of Granton and Robert Berger, a cousin of the bride, of Neillsville. Harvey J. Mohr of Neillsville and Arnold Huth of Granton ushered.
Guests were from Rochester and St. Paul, Minn.; Milwaukee, Rib Lake, Thorp, Granton, Marshfield, Stratford, Loyal, and Greenwood.
Two hundred guests attended a wedding reception held in the American Legion Hall in Neillsville.
The bride, a graduate of Neillsville High School, has been employed as secretary in the county clerk’s office. Mr. Lindner, also a graduate of the Neillsville School, is employed with a construction company from Eau Claire.
Mr. and Mrs. Lindner will reside in Neillsville on their return from a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin.
