Columbia (26 November 1964)

It was a rather quiet Monday morning after two very active days of intense hunting by area residents and many from out of town.  Indications are a very heavy kill with many party successes and numerous bucks taken.

Lucky hunters reported here are: Denzil Dempsey of Fennimore, a four-point buck; Arnold Bieler, Montfort, a four-point buck.  Both men are with a group of hunters in a mobile home west of the William Sollberger residence.  Each shot his buck Saturday afternoon within a mile of Columbia.

Lawrence Kolbrak of Altoona, a party doe and a seven-point buck; William Sollberger, a party deer; Roger Peterson, age 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Peterson of Ripon, a seven-point buck on opening day; Morrey Williams, mayor of Cambia, party doe and a 10-point buck; Howard Clodfelter, a spiked buck; and Eugene Brossard, Cambria, a spiked buck and a party doe.

Mr. Williams, Howard Clodfelter and Mr. Brossard were with a group of hunters stationed at the Waldimar Clodfelter residence. All returned to Cambria Sunday evening.

Another heavy influx of hunters is expected over the Thanksgiving Day weekend.  Happy Hunting!

Mr. and Mrs. John Sollberger and Mrs. William Sollberger accompanied Mrs. Frances Sollberger of Neillsville to Eau Claire Tuesday, where they visited Mrs. Frieda Baumel. In the afternoon they visited Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kolbrak at Altoona.
