Francis, Harold L. (15 AUG 1923 - 14 FEB 2012)

 

Harold L. Francis, 88, of Marshfield died on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at the Marshfield Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield with the Rev. Jean Irgewere officiating. Burial will be in Neillsville City Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 175 of Loyal.

Visitation will be Saturday at Rembs Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

Harold was born on Aug. 15, 1923, in Neillsville to Edward and Elizabeth (King) Francis. He attended Neillsville area schools and barbering school in Milwaukee.

He was united in marriage to Lorraine M. Lezotte on Dec. 9, 1943, in Black River Falls.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and after his honorable discharge, he returned to Loyal where he operated his barber shop for more than 52 years. After his retirement, they moved to Marshfield and had lived her since.

His hobbies included fishing and hunting. While barbering, his pals would come into the shop daily and talk about fishing stories and many others topics. He was respected in the community and loved by many. He had a special love for his wife Lorraine, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of Marshfield; daughters, Patricia (Danny) Slaby of Landers Calif., Jacqueline (David) Slaby and Paula (David) Schumacher, both of Marshfield. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and twin infant daughters, Jacqueline and Peggy.
